How to Host a Great Summer BBQ

April 20, 2012

With summertime coming up, kids will be out of school and the weather will be warm.  Summer is always filled with outdoor parties and BBQ’s, so this year it’s your chance to shine by hosting a great backyard BBQ! To throw a successful BBQ party follow some of these tips:

  • Bring the entertainment.  Of course you have your party guests but it’s not up to them to entertain themselves.  So, set up a volleyball net or horseshoes and have kid-friendly options available too!
  • Keep it safe.  Sounds strange, right?  But during the party you may get off track with grilling time.  Invest in a probe thermometer or borrow one from a friend and be sure to cook the meat thoroughly.  By checking your meat’s temperatures you’ll be able to lower the risk of food poisoning and make sure the food is delicious.
  • Prep 24 hours in advance.  If you plan on marinating meats, do it the day before so when you are ready to grill, your meat will be packed with flavor.
  • Add more grilled items!  When grilling hotdogs and burgers , don’t forget about the veggies and seafood!  If you do not want to pay for the extra food, suggest to your guests that they could pitch in whether it’s a home-made potato salad to hamburger patties.
