Spring Cleaning Musts!

April 4, 2012

Well, it’s that time of year again when the fresh, spring air brings us to our annual “Spring Cleaning”.  Many of us know where and when to begin but for some that first step is challenging.  Here are a few basic tasks to tackle first!

  • Clean your windows!  Dirty panes and built up muck from the year can be unappealing and darken the interior of your home.  By using a rubber-edged squeegee, cleaning your windows can be easy; and if you have an extension handle, it is easier to reach the higher areas.
  • Wash your blinds!  Once our twice a year wipe down your wooden blinds with a damp rag.  Aluminum blinds can be washed outside with your hose.
  • Protect wooden floors!  Guard against scratches by applying a protective cleaning – be sure to check with the manufacturer’s instructions for any laminate floors.  Make sure furniture that is on the floors has padding and protection too!
  • Deep clean carpets and rugs!  Rent a shampooer or steam cleaner to remove dirt, grime and anything else that could have built up.  If you would rather have a professional perform this service, give me a call and I will share my favorite contractors’ contact information.
